Texas A&M University, also known as A&M or TAMU, is a coeducational, public research university located in College Station, Texas. It was founded in the year 1876. The 2009 U.S. News and World Report ranked Texas A&M University 64th among national universities and 23rd among public universities.

Texas A&M University's athletic teams compete in the Big 12 Conference (South Division). They are nicknamed the Aggies. The University is located in a rural site not far from an urban area, in College Station, TX. The school is a public institution. Degree levels at Texas A&M top out at the Doctoral degree.

Course Topics:

One of the good things about the school is its wide range of programs leading to degrees. Students at Texas A&M often study science, engineering, agricultural science and management, landscaping and horticulture, and conservation and resource management.

Students & Faculty:

The admissions department at the school does not accept all those who apply. Most students' verbal SAT scores were in the range of 520 to 630 in 2007. A quarter of students admitted in 2007 scored 670 or higher on the math SAT. The school offers classes to 46,542 students (43,567 full-time equivalent).

The school's tenure system is geared toward rewarding and keeping the most valuable professors. By paying its faculty better than most schools, Texas A&M tries to attract and retain a high quality teaching staff.

Texas A&M has a large share of part-time students. Students sports include formal participation in Big Twelve Conference competitions.
